Japan Bass Tackle started with a simple idea: bring unique, proven Japanese bass fishing products to U.S. anglers that they aren't going to find at every tackle shop.
Founder Nick Supalo has spent his entire life fishing. Both for fun and competitively. Based in Northern California, he fishes professionally and competes in tournaments throughout the region and beyond, including ONE BASS, ABA, and other competitive bass fishing events. Fishing isn't just the business behind Japan Bass Tackle; it's something Nick has spent a lifetime doing.
Outside of fishing, Nick has also spent about five years working in import and export in Japan. Combining that experience with his passion for bass fishing created an opportunity to do something he'd wanted to pursue for years: find innovative Japanese tackle and make it readily available to American anglers.
Bringing BOREAS to the USA
One brand that immediately stood out was BOREAS, a Japanese tackle company rooted in the legendary waters of Lake Biwa.
Japan Bass Tackle is the exclusive U.S. distributor for BOREAS, bringing its products directly to American anglers.
What caught Nick's attention wasn't simply that the products were different; it was that their differences had a purpose. BOREAS baits such as the ANO STRAIGHT, ANO SLIDER, and DEVIL'S TAIL incorporate subtle design features that affect how the bait swims, shakes, vibrates, and presents itself in the water.
They're the kinds of details that can be easy to overlook sitting in the package but become immediately apparent once you fish them.
And that's an important part of what Japan Bass Tackle is about: not importing something just because it's Japanese, but finding tackle that gives anglers something genuinely different to fish.

Japan Bass Tackle also carries EIS VOGEL, another Japanese brand Nick believes deserves significantly more attention in the U.S.

When something earns a place in the lineup, the goal is to help other anglers understand what makes it different, not simply tell them it's the newest thing from Japan.
